Today, April 12, 2011, is/was day 28 of the 52DC. The Challenge is now 53.85% complete. My numbers through the end of today, assuming I do not blow a Clean Eat are:

  • CE: 56/56/96 (58.33%)
  • RT: 14/20 (70%)
  • CT: 10/20 (50%)
  • PG1 (40-4-40): 22/40 (55%)

Insane 15,000 and Beyond: 13150/25000 (52.6%)   For the purposes of tracking my numbers, I am utilizing the 52DC Tracking Spreadsheet. Since that section was originally designed for the 3600 Challenge, you have to put in goals for each individual exercise. After each exercise it the amount completed to date juxtaposed against the estimated goal and the percentage achieved. Following each are some comments.

  • Swiss Ball Crunches: 4240/7000 (60.57%) I use these as both a warm up and as part of a circuit.
  • Push-Ups: 3741/7000 (53.44%) I am making progress on these.  I have gone from sets of 25 totalling 100 or so, to sets of 40 totalling 300.  I would like to get these up to 500 reps a day, which is where I was when I had the push up challenge with SkyCabin.
  • DB Single Arm Swings: 710/1200 (59.17%) Making progress on these as well.  I have gone from sets of 20 to sets of 40.  Although it is 20 per arm, it is 40 squats as part of the movement.  Happy about this.
  • Chin-ups: 355/800 (44.38%) Progress is being made here as well.  I started out doing sets of 5 and aiming for maybe 25 chin-ups.  Today, I did sets of 6-8 reps totalling 60 reps.  Nice.
  • Hanging Leg Raises: 560/1200 (46.67%) Progress here is slow and really depends on what else I am doing.  Right now I can do 3 sets of 20 reps and if time allows – another two sets of 10 reps.
  • Dips: 560/1200 (46.67%) Same as the Leg Raises.
  • Cuban Presses: 615/1200 (51.25%) I thought these would be easy, but multiple sets – even with light weights, tires the shoulders quickly.  Aiming for sets of 30 or more.
  • Cardio: 200/400 (50%) I should have reduced my core goal to 10 or 15.  These 20 minute units are taking up time that I could be doing 100-200 reps of something else.  Ah well.
  • HIAH: 2169/5000 (43.38%) This is the Get Lean Phase 1 program.  I have modified it such that all three workouts are now lighter weights and higher reps as they are in Workout C.  I will also extend this through the end of the Challenge, although it was designed as a four-week program.

I do not know where I will end up.  I have been killing myself attempting to catch up for the time lost while healing from the retinal surgery.  Starting this Saturday night, my time will no longer be my own.  Not really complaining.  I do have a week in Florida where I can push to the Finish Line.  As of now, I should be able to finish my Core Goals as well as PG1.  I have made significant progress in each of these exercises.  I am a big believer in volume exercise – just not this big a volume.

I will complete the original Insane 15,000 over the next two-three workouts.  Will I have enough time left to do 10,000 more reps?  Who knows?  

I do know that I will not throw in the towel or take the pressure off Capt DHD.  He suggested raising the ante from 15 – 25000 – now let him be “Hoist by his own petard.”

ETA: As of Thursday, April 14, 2011 – Day 30 of the 52DC, I completed 15250 out of 25000, one day after the good Capt’n hit that mark.
