This morning was a CT workout: 20 minutes on the treadmill and about 20-30 minutes of the following circuit:
- DB Single Arm Swings: 25 pound DB 2×20 – 10 with each arm.
- Chin/Pull-ups: I have been mixing shoulder width chin-ups with shoulder width pull-ups. Starting to get better with the overhand grip. Faced my fears and tried the wide overhand grip which is the position that has previously screwed up my left rotator cuff. Did 3 sets of 2 reps each. Happy no pain. Will mix these in now.
- Hanging Leg Raises: 2 sets of 15.
- Weighted Dips: Doing this with a 45 pound plate. Managed to get 10 out on the first go round. Form – well – have to work on that. Eaked out 20+.
- Cuban Presses: 2 sets of 15 with 15 pound DBs. I have a love/hate relationship with this exercise. It is tough but it really does my shoulders and rotator cuff a world of good.
The gym removed a bunch of equipment (which I never used – but others did) and expanded the space for the personal trainers. My circuit area was seriously messed with. All the equipment is available – just not in the same proximity. Trying to set things up to get it done – annoying. They also crowded the weight lifting area. The worst was the DB swings – just trying to find a space not to kill some one. Doesn’t matter – got it done.
My wife made a big batch of Cream of Cauliflower soup. We had some and froze the rest. Happiness.

Juxtaposing the words love and treadmill in the same sentence – Not! Unless the sentence is Don’t you just love to hate the treadmill. 🙂
A Challenger’s gotta do what a Challenger’s gotta do.

I think you’re going to start to see more and more free space popping up in fitness facilities. I think people are starting to move away from the bigger pieces of equipment and facilities will start eliminating them to open up the door to more functional activities. That is the direction fitness is headed it appears.
I personally love the idea because I hate machines. You’ve read that article before that I wrote. You can do a lot of things with very little for exercise…

I agree – most of the machines are worthless. Problem is that the space is not for general use but for the PTs. They have the ropes and the TRX stuff and the sand bags – not the rest of us who just pay our entrance fee.

Evening TNT,
Change is Good Brother! Embrace the change! You might incorporate a new exercise or two,… might even make a new friend! I know how you feel about getting chatty during a workout!
They flipped my gym over while I wasn’t looking this summer too. You being there every day and being as structured as you are I am sure the shot to your system is far worse than mine. I’ve only been back a handful of times but I am adapting.
One thing about it, when they flipped it they gave it a much needed intense cleaning.

Bah Humbug. Clean – they have no idea what that word means. If they were adding new equipment – I would be happy – but that ain’t it –
OK time to stop bitch’n and roll with the punches. Just as long as they don’t take away my dip station.
