My daughter and 5yo grandson arrive tomorrow evening.  She sent me a list of food to have in the house.  Shopping for these items was one of the most disheartening experiences I’ve had in recent times.  Here’s the list:

  • 1% milk
  • Low calorie lemonade  – this can be juice packs – look for Honest Kids
  • Total cereal
  • Lucky charms cereal
  • Fiber One chocolate pretzel granola bars
  • Fiber One peanut butter granola bars
  • Fiber One chocolate brownies
  • 45 calorie bread for daughter
  • Regular wheat bread for grandson
  • American cheese slices for grandson
  • Eggs
  • Watermelon
  • MANY strawberries
  • Sliced turkey and/or roast beef for sandwiches
  • Light Mayonnaise
  • Fresh Ketchup
  • 6 tomatoes –  a little hard if possible
  • Blueberries
  • Sleepytime tea
  • Skinny Cow – 2 pt ice cream bars – chocolate with raspberry inside
  • Goldfish
  • 4 peaches

But what about food for dinner?  I know she will get herself some WW frozen dinners.  But what about the little guy.  “We normally don’t make dinner – just pick up some Sushi.”  She feeds my grandson an American Cheese product sandwich.  “What about chicken?” I asked. “Not fried. No Skin.”  “Well – how do You cook it?” I asked.  “I haven’t made chicken in two years.”  She responded.

This is going to be a tough week.  What we do for love. 😦
