OK – I’ll admit it:  I broke the 3 pound rule.  Actually – I trashed it.  What is the 3 pound rule? – You ask.

I’m not sure where I got it, but it makes sense.  “Don’t allow yourself to gain more than 3 pounds without taking positive action.”  I’ve also seen it as the 5 pound rule.  Whatever!

Weight fluctuates.  Maintaining a given weight is difficult for everyone – especially those who have lost substantial weight – as I have.

Over the years, I’ve lost and gained the same 50-80 pounds multiple times.  So for me – it is important to set limits on where I will not let my weight go.  Having lost 83 pounds and going from 260 down to 177, I ended up stabilizing at 180.  This really means that I would vary in and around the 180 mark, ranging from a low of 177/178 to a high of 182/183.   183 was my Cap – the line in the sand – marker that forced a retreat.  At least it was for close to 4+ years.  Then my weight started to settle down at 183/184.  When it hit 185, I was forced to look myself in the mirror and shout – STOP.

The Fall 52DC was starting so I made getting down to 179 by September 28th a goal.  Weight loss goals – for me – are always hard to achieve,  At the start of the 52DC, I weighed in at 185 on the nose.  Since then, my weight loss/gain has been a roller coaster ride.  Here is a chart of my less than stellar progress.  I do not believe that the weight loss is real – or – locked in.  That takes time.  There are still a number of substantial bumps in the road between today and September 28th.  But – the 28th is not the last day – just another day in the daily struggle to control my weight

EDIT: 8-31-13, 7:00 am: Surprisingly 181.3 held steady this morning. Will it last the weekend? Not a shot in hell.
