We are closing in on the last two weeks of the Summer 52 Day Challenge.  Some of the Challengers really need to double down to meet their goals.  The toughest goal to meet – weight loss – no question.

One Challenger is starting Chad Waterbury’s How to Get Ripped with Food: A 7-Day Plan.

Naturally I went to the site and checked it out. I had written about it previously several years ago.  Check out that post.

Will you lose weight? Yes.  Will it be fat?  Maybe a bit.  Will it be permanent?  No.  Do you risk losing muscle mass?  Yes.

You eat mostly low starch vegetables and limited low fat protein.  End result – you are draining your glycogen stores and thereby water. You can sub out zero carb protein powder for real food.

Since there is almost no dietary fat being eaten you are going to burn stored fat once your glucose tank is empty – and he tries to do that fast.

No protein day 1

40 grams days 2-4

80 grams days 5-7

My conclusion:   Shell Game.  I will quote the author:

It seems that every week a new book, article, or diet comes out claiming there’s a better way to lose fat. But you know it’s the same ol’ B.S.

And this is just another one that is the “same ol’ B.S.”

The Challenger, who is adopting this program, may very well reach his weight loss goal – at least until he has a celebratory meal.
